Our Story
Built by parents who play.
We're Hess Polanco and Ashli Polanco — a husband-and-wife team raising a son and daughter who love gaming. CoPlayConnect started in our living room, the night we realized that stepping into their world changed everything.
Our shared mission
Connection over control.
Together, we're helping families connect through gaming — with intention, not guilt.
CoPlayConnect helps you step into your child's world instead of pulling them out of it. Because the best way to raise great kids isn't to fight what they love — it's to meet them inside it.

CoPlayConnect didn't start as a business. It started with me looking at my son and asking myself one question: Am I really seeing him for who he is?
I grew up loving games — NBA Jam, Earthworm Jim, Twisted Metal 2, Super Mario World. They opened up my imagination. But there were moments I wanted my interests to be part of the conversation, and I didn't always know how to ask. That feeling stayed with me.
Now I'm a dad. I see how easy it is to miss what's right in front of you. Most parents aren't lacking love — they're lacking time, tools, and awareness. So I made a decision: I wasn't just going to be around for my kids. I was going to be intentional with them.
For my son, that meant stepping into his world instead of pulling him out of it. He loves gaming. Instead of fighting the screen, we started using it. When he got frustrated, we didn't shut it down — we coached him through it. We taught him how to breathe, reset, and recognize what he was feeling. He's seven now, and he's already building emotional control in real time.
"Gaming isn't the problem. The disconnect between parents and their kids is the problem."
CoPlayConnect is what came from that realization — for parents who want to connect, not control. It's the thing I wish existed when I was growing up.

I grew up in a home where screens and games weren't feared — they were shared. Movies, video games, and play were how we connected as a family. So when I became a mom in 2019 and kept hearing "screens are bad," it didn't sit right with me.
Instead of rejecting it, I paid attention. I watched my son closely — not just what he was doing, but how he was thinking, reacting, and growing. By age 2, he was using interactive apps to reinforce letters and numbers, and getting lost in dinosaur books with me.
Then came gaming. I still remember the first home we built together in Minecraft — multiple rooms, glass ceilings to see the stars, every detail he insisted on. It wasn't just a game. It was creativity, storytelling, and connection all at once.
With a scientific background, I approached this the same way I approach any complex problem: with research, intention, and structure. We explored Minecraft Education, integrated coding, and turned play into learning. By age 6, my son was programming inside Minecraft. Today he's building his own games and exploring Java and C#.
But none of that happened by accident. We set boundaries. We stayed involved. We played together using CoPlayConnect, asked questions, and chose connection over control.
That's why we built CoPlayConnect — to help other families turn gaming into a tool for connection, learning, and emotional growth. Because when you step into your child's world, you don't just understand them better. You grow together.
